Bocairent, known as the Berber village, is one of the most surprising places in the Valencian Community. Now, in just one day, departing from the city of Valencia, you can delve into this village literally carved into the rock and explore the Islamic labyrinth.
On a full-day excursion from Valencia to Bocairent, we will immerse ourselves in a mountain village perched on the rocks, surrounded by the landscape of the Sierra de Mariola Natural Park.
We will stroll through its medieval old town, where the labyrinthine streets and houses partly carved into the stone resemble a beehive. The stone and rock take center stage, along with the flower pots and the natural beauty of the Valencian towns.
There, we can visit monuments rarely found elsewhere, such as the “ventisquero” located in the village, the Church of the Assumption, which houses an extraordinary goldsmith museum, the Bullring dating back to 1843, excavated in the rock, and the most famous monument in the town— the caves carved by the Berbers, known as “covetes dels Moros,” which can be explored from the inside. We will also taste local products with a liquor tasting of “herbero” and “pericana.”
