This excursion to Caminito del Rey from the city of Malaga is one of the main getaways to get to know the nature of the inner province of Malaga. The famous Caminito del Rey is a man-made work with amazing walkways anchored to the walls of the Gaitanes Gorge.
It is a natural area and a Special Protection Area for birds (ZEPA), as well as an environment full of history that is documented in the large number of archaeological sites that surround the area. This means that since ancient times this area was of special interest. Its water and hydroelectric infrastructures, which were located in the area in the 19th and 20th centuries, continue to be a good example of durability.
Caminito del Rey is the day trip in Malaga par excellence. It combines nature, the beauty of the landscapes created naturally such as the gorge, a narrow pass with steep walls that opens between two rocks or a crack in the ground where we find currently some hanging bridges.
Also the water and the dam are a spectacle on their own. As soon as we reach the area of the Conde reservoir, where the waters of the Guadalhorce river are retained, we will find the Chorro dam.
We will start the tour on foot from the entrance through the small tunnel that is right next to the Restaurant el Kiosko. That’s when we’ll start walking in the direction of ticket control.
There is no need to queue, our guide will be ready with your ticket to enter.
The walk along the Caminito del Rey begins now! Now in about 2.5 hours our guide will explain about nature, birds and endemic flora. We will also discover how the famous Caminito and the suspension bridges were created, as well as the secrets of their construction.

All the planing and expense for my trip to Granada would have been in vain if not for the help of Lilly. We ended up getting the Granada card with guided tour of Alhambra for 2. It was a lot more than I had intended to spend as I had not wanted a tour. However I was so incredibly happy that I went with Discovering Spain. We saved so much by going with them directly rather than an online company. Our guide Jesus is an art historian with so much of passion, talent and knowledge. He gave so much colour and depth to our tour. He was patient and interested in what we wanted to do. He went at our pace (my Mum is 71), and tailor’s the tour to your interests, and was a real gentleman. Lilly was super helpful with local tips and a very prompt and good communicator. What I like most about Lilly was that she was so helpful and professional and didn’t try to sell me something I didn’t want or need. We did end up making pretty good use of the Granada Card and the Alhambra tour was the most memorable experience my Mum and I have had in the longest time. Thank you both Lilly and Jesus, you guys helped make our Granada trip incredible.
